Renowned violinists Serge Cuca and Dieter Hendricks will perform a delightful program:
- Duos Brillant, Op.27, No.3 by Jean Delphin Alard - Alard, a distinguished French violinist and teacher, was influential in the 19th century, and his works showcase the virtuosic and expressive capabilities of the violin.Â
- Sonata for Two Violins in C major, Op.56 by Sergei Prokofiev - Prokofiev's sonata is known for its lyrical beauty and dynamic interplay between the two violins, featuring a mix of mystery, energy, and brilliance.Â
- Sonata for Two Violins, Op.12 by Jean-Marie Leclair - Leclair, considered the founder of the French violin school, masterfully blends Italian and French styles, creating music that is both technically sophisticated and expressively rich.Â
About the Performers:
Serge Cuca Serge Cuca, born in the former Yugoslavia, moved to South Africa in 1975. He has held significant positions with the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. Currently, he teaches privately, performs with various orchestras, and leads the Johannesburg Music Initiative Orchestra. Serge is also the founder and first violin of the acclaimed Pangea String Quartet.
Dieter Hendricks Dieter Hendricks, an accomplished violinist from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, has distinctions in both the Trinity associate and licentiate performance diplomas. He plays regularly with several Johannesburg orchestras and holds a PhD in applied mathematics and machine learning. Dieter remains an associate member of the University of Oxford and is the second violin of the acclaimed Pangea String Quartet.
